Core drilling is a process by which specific diameter holes are cored out through concrete walls and slabs in order to facilitate things like HVAC, plumbing, drainage, electrical services, and more.

Electric and hydraulic core drills use diamond coated bits in order to efficiently and accurately drill through hard materials such as asphalt, concrete and other masonry, and steel. The use of diamond coated bits also provides for a virtually vibration free drilling process, preserving the integrity of surrounding structure and materials.

Additionally, because diamond core drilling is also dust free and low noise, it is the perfect choice for even the most sensitive of work areas, ensuring the least disturbance possible during your project. Also, for non standard shape/size holes, we can use a process called stitch drilling, whereby we overlap multiple drilled holes to allow for the appropriate size and shape hole to be drilled out and material removed.

FAQs

  • Core drilling uses a rotating diamond bit to extract precise cylindrical holes without fracturing surrounding concrete, unlike standard hammer drills that can create irregular openings.

  • Core drilling can produce a wide range of hole diameters and depths to accommodate plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and conduit requirements in commercial structures.

  • Yes, core drilling is designed to penetrate thick reinforced concrete, brick, and masonry with precision regardless of material density.

  • For load-bearing walls or slabs, we evaluate reinforcement and structural conditions before drilling to avoid compromising the integrity of the structure.

  • Holes created by core drilling are immediately ready for installation of pipes, conduits, or ductwork without additional cleanup or shaping.

  • We provide commercial and industrial core drilling services throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

  • Yes, core drilling can be performed indoors with minimal disruption, enabling work in active warehouses, plants, and commercial buildings.
